The territory of Kadanzer Weyr
THE KADANZER WEYR: Kadanzer Weyr is now located on the long-abandoned site of the old Southern Weyr. The former site of the Weyr is located in the mountains of the Western Barrier Range; particularly, the mountain just south of the eastern loop of Drake's Lake as seen in The Atlas of Pern. Our territory extends from the Rubicon River and the Sea of Azov in the east, to the westernmost coast of Izmir Hold; and from the Barrier range in the south to the northernmost tip of Windsong Hold.
(map adapted from The Atlas of Pern by Lynne Brigant) THE CLIMATE: Kadanzer Weyr is now in the tropics; summers (the dry season) are hot, and winters (the rainy season) are warm and wet, with the occasional chilly night.

For those of you still writing stories backdated to before the move, the old Weyr was very close to the Snowy Waste of the Southern Continent, and did not have the tropical weather so well known, and expected, of the Southern Continent. In fact, the old Weyr commonly had bitterly cold, long winters and only mildly warm summers. While it was a wonderful place to be during the summer, during the winter many weyrfolk would hitch rides north whenever a dragonpair headed that way for some time in the sun and warmth.
